Grievance Policy (学术 Complaint)*

The following procedure must be followed in filing a grievance:

  1. 最后的成绩: Issues concerning individual assignments, 考试, and other graded work during the course may only be appealed to the professor; a student may not use this policy for appeal until a final grade has been assigned for the course. To appeal a final grade, the student must take the matter to the 教师 member, 以书面形式, and within the first 15 PBA work days of the grade being posted in my.gumeimy.com. Appeal via PBA e-mail 对应 will be considered a written appeal. The appropriate 迪安 must be copied on the written appeal.
  2. 学术欺骗: To appeal an academic dishonesty judgment, the student must take the matter to the 教师 member, 以书面形式, within 5 working days of being notified of the judgment. Appeal via PBA e-mail 对应 will be considered a written appeal.

  4. The student may appeal the case to the 迪安, by completing the appeal application and submitting it to the 迪安, only after written communication with the professor in resolving the complaint proves to be unsatisfactory to the student. This appeal to the 迪安 must be done within 15 PBA work days of the written response from the 教师 member.   5. If the original appeal involves the 迪安 as the professor of record, the Provost will appoint another dean to review the appeal.
  6. If, after the 迪安 has made the decision on the appeal, the student is not satisfied with the outcome, he or she may appeal to the Council of 迪安s through the Office of the Provost. The only justification for an appeal to the Council of 迪安s is a procedural violation. The student appeal must demonstrate which procedure was violated and how it was violated. If the Appeals Committee determines that the case is not sustainable on its merits, the decision is final and there is no further appeal. The Office of the Provost is responsible for enforcing the decision of the Council of 迪安s. The conclusions and recommendations of the Council are final and binding upon the parties to the complaint. No further appeal may ensue.

File Outside Complaint

To file a complaint against a nonpublic postsecondary institution in Florida, the student would write a letter or send an e-mail containing the following information:

  1. Name of Student (or Complainant)

Policy Procedures and Details

Any complaint that has not followed the prescribed steps will be referred back to the appropriate staff member.

  4. The written complaint will be logged for internal processing; 然而, it will not become a part of the student’s official record.

  7. The President’s Office 或被任命者 will review the student’s complaint and provide a final written response. Response via PBA e-mail will be considered as a written response.
  8. Each department is required by SACSCOC and federal regulations to maintain a student complaint log. This log is intended to track the process beginning with the written complaint until final written 决议 (steps 2-7). The log should contain the following information: student name, 投诉日期, 投诉性质, date of acknowledgment, 行动, 决议, date of final 行动 notification.

General Guidelines for 信息rmal Resolution

  2. If the issue is not resolved, next contact the department chair or administrative office supervisor to attempt a 决议.
  3. If the issue still remains unresolved, next contact the appropriate dean’s office or administrative assistant/associate vice president.

General Guidelines for Formal Complaints

If a student’s concern remains unresolved after exhausting informal processes for 决议, 学生可以选择提交他/她的投诉的书面声明,以寻求官方文件和解决问题。. The sections below describe procedures for written complaints. All departments and programs shall keep written logs and copies of all documents related to formal complaints received. Complaint logs shall note the nature of the complaint, the final 决议 of the issue, and the date of 决议.

  1. The student completes a written explanation of the concern or appeals to the appropriate office.
  2. The complaint must include the student’s name and contact information, and a description of the circumstances, including the parties involved to date and the current status of the situation.
  3. The supervisor will review the student’s complaint and provide a written acknowledgement within ten business days.
  4. The written complaint will be logged for internal processing; 然而, it will not become a part of the student’s official record.

  9. The Provost will review the student’s complaint and provide a final written response.
